Customize Your Web Clips With Clipboard

Posted on September 23rd, 2012 by RESCUECOM

Tired of trying to find something among the articles and photos you have saved for later reference? Let Clipboard come to your rescue and help you with your online life.

Clipboard claims to be the best way to organize, save and share items you find on the web. “Clipboard is better than any other site because it allows users to clip all or portions of web pages while retaining the visual look, style, feel and functionality of the original item,” Shalendra Chhabra, Clipboard product manager, told RESCUECOM. “Clips, which are private by default, can be saved on the web or on an iPhone and are automatically organized into boards using hashtags (e.g. #recipes). Users can create private boards, co-curate within groups or share publicly on social networks. The service is great for personal and professional use. Regardless of the project, Clipboard is the best way to clip news articles, organize research and plan your next project or vacation. Clipboard is a reflection of a person’s digital identity on the web.”

A type of bookmark manager, Clipboard allows you to take information and images from a computer or iPhone, from any app that allows copying. Choose clips reflecting your own interests or collaborate on a group project.

Sign up for an account. Each board has one owner, who can add admins, writers and readers. The owner decides who has which privileges.

With everything saved in the cloud, at this time there is unlimited personal and noncommercial use. A Pro Plan (paid) for businesses is in the works.

The website opened in May 2012. After getting feedback from users, Clipboard decided to add a free iOS app, making it possible to create and view clips on the go.

In response to comments, the recently updated website is simplified and divided into private and public clips. There is a new activity feed showing recent updates to your boards. In addition, small groups of users can now co-curate privately.

“So far the user and press sentiment of our announcement has been pretty amazing!” Chhabra exclaimed. “We are always listening to our users. Some of our future steps include offering a Clipboard app for other platforms like iPad, Android, Windows 8 and Windows Phone.”

“We recently partnered with Microsoft and optimized Clipboard for Internet Explorer 9,” he continued. “Microsoft featured Clipboard in the IE9 commercial that is currently playing in theaters and on TV.”

If you use the Internet frequently, make sure you have a professional computer service company, such as RESCUECOM, to help you with Internet security and virus removal.

Clipboard says that user engagement is extremely high. According to Clipboard statistics, 83 percent of clips are private, 97 percent come from external content, 59 percent have notes attached and 39 percent are tagged. This means people are working with the clips after they save them. In addition, the average number of clips per user is 12, with one person having 15,829 private clips.
